ObituaryMay 19, 2014  OBITUARY: BELCHERTOWN - Jo-Anne Louise "Auntie" Hatt, 57. died peacefully at home May 5, 2014. Born in Northampton, she lived most of her life in Belchertown, Easthampton and Ware, graduating from Belchertown Jr.-Sr. High School in 1974.

While Jo-Anne never married, she spent her time with family and friends, helping to raise her nieces and nephews. For many years she lived with and cared for her grandmother Louise May (Pierce) Capen and her uncle Lawrence Allen Capen, until their passing.

She loved reading, baking, babysitting, spending time with her family, and everything Elvis. She was an avid reader and spent a lot of time at the Clapp Memorial Library. She enjoyed attending and volunteering at the book sales. Jo-Anne enjoyed shopping, loved couponing, and enjoyed listening to country music. She was always there whenever you needed her, thinking of others before herself and always doing extra for those she loved.

She is survived by her stepfather Earle Atwell of Belchertown; brother Carle Atwell and his wife Beth of Monson; sister Sherry (Atwell) Walsh and her husband Michael of Leeds; nieces Shauna (Atwell) Wagher and her husband Adam, Trisha Atwell, Shani Judkins; nephews Eric Atwell and Adam Atwell; great nieces and nephews Dante, Riley, Nyziah, Angelina, Mason, Shannon, Aviana; and many cousins. Her aunts Patricia Clark of Shutesbury Linda Houle of Ware; uncles Wallace Capen of Springfield, George Capen of Florida, and William Capen of Easthampton.

Jo-Anne was predeceased by her mother, Nancy Elizabeth (Capen) Atwell, in 2001.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 24, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Vernon Lodge of Masons Building, 1 Main St. in Belchertown.
