He was a native of Gates County and a retire painter of Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Eure Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Bernice Freeman of Eure; and a brother, Paul V. Hoffler of Portsmouth.
A funeral will be held today at 4 p.m. in Eure Baptist Church by the Revs. Joseph Buck and Jerry Beck. Burial will be in Cool Spring Baptist Church Cemetery with Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, in charge.
