Researcher's Note* 
Was a farmer by occupation and, being a good musician, spent his winters for some 30 years in teaching singing schools in N.H., Vt., and N.Y; he was composer of music and, of his descendants, H. K. Dewey had in his possession a book of 128 pages of his music, printed by hand with a quill pen -- a deacon of Orford West Congregational Church after June 20, 1833.2
