ObituaryMar 18, 2012  OBITUARY: Claire Jeanette Nelson, 90, passed away March 11, 2012, in Montrose, Colo. Born in Newport Center, Vt., on Aug. 12, 1921, to Albertine and Joseph Francois Thibodeau, Claire married Alvie Hurd Nelson in 1942 and raised six boys, first in Vermont, then New Hampshire and later in Phoenix, Ariz., where they moved to in 1962.

Claire was raised on a rural farm in northern Vermont, was a dedicated Catholic, loved the outdoors and animals, and was devoted to her family.

Claire is survived by five sons, David A. Nelson, Dale E. Nelson, William F. Nelson, Brian H. Nelson and Michael J. Nelson; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and brother, Charles A. Carter. They will all miss her sweet counsel and loving spirit. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvie, and second-oldest son, Raymond A. Nelson.

Claire's final resting place is Holy Cross Cemetery in Avondale (Phoenix), Ariz., next to her husband and son. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory of Montrose.
