ObituaryAug 29, 1975  OBITUARY: SUNBURY, N.C. - Milton Homer Byrum, 86, died Thursday in his home.
A native of Gates County, he was the husband of Mrs. Inez Hofler Byrum and a member of Beulah Baptist Church, where he was chairman of the board of deacons for 40 years and treasurer for 30 years. He was made lifetime honorary chairman in 1968.
He was a charter member of the Sunbury Ruritan Club.
Survivors also include two daughters, Mrs. Charles McNattof Winston-Salem, and Mrs. Ralph O'Berry of Ahoskie; a brother, W. Graham Byrum of Sunbury; four sisters, Mrs. Jack Rountree and Mrs. W. H. Hofler, both of Sunbury; Mrs. G.T. Rountree Sr. of Suffolk, and Mrs. D.E. Barnes of Corapeake; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in Beulah Baptist Church by the Rev. Buddy Watson, with burial in the family cemetery. Jack W. Harrell Funeral Home, Gatesville, has charge.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the church building fund.
