Survivors include his wife, Ruth Knight Rice; two daughters, Kathryn R. Keen of Virginia Beach and Mary L. Johnson of Suffolk; two sisters, Edna R. Hoffler of Sunbury and Ruby R. Hobbs of Chesapeake; a brother, Frank L. Rice of Sunbury; and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Beulah Baptist Church by the Rev. Ron Parr. Burial will be in Damascus Christian Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the residence. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Roanoke-Chowan Hospice, 415 Peachtree St., Ahoskie, N.C. 27910.
