Researcher's Note* | | Dennisport first known as Crocker Neck and an area belonging to the Indians. Several families, among them Wixons and Chases, moved to Crocker Neck and lived among the Indians. This is where it is supposed the families obtained the Indian blood that they are rumored to have. According to law, no white man could buy land off the Indians yet Chases and Wixons owned large pieces of the Crocker Neck area.3 |
