Alling, 75, a stationary and consulting engineer with the Majestic Laundry for 35 years, prior to his retirement, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 1973, in the West Haven Veteran's Administration Hospital. He was the husband of Emily Blackie Alling of 1 Stoddard Rd., East Haven. Born in New Haven, Dec. 21, 1897, son of the late Frank L. and Emma Martindale Alling, he was a World War I veteran of the US Army, a member of Wooster Lodge 79 AF & AM, was past chancellor of Rathbone 1, Knights of Pythias, past commander of East Shore Barracks, 2098 Veterans of World War I, and past president of New Haven 10, National Association of Power Engineers. He served for eight years as president of the Board of Engineers for the City of New Haven, under former Mayor William C. Celentano. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. William (Virginia) Lemmon of East Haven and Mrs. Daniel (Beatrice) O'Connor of New Haven; a sister, Mrs. Eva Jantzer of Guilford; a brother, Raymond Alling of Stratford; four grandchildren and a great-grandson.
