ObituaryOct 18, 2003  OBITUARY: LEMPSTER, N.H. -- Lula Irene Simonds, 78, of Lempster Street, Lempster, N.H., died Friday evening, Oct. 17, 2003, at Integrated Health Services of New Hampshire in Claremont.
She was born in Waterville, Vt. on April 21, 1925, the daughter of Chester Sumner and Laura Mae (Eldred) Wright. She had resided in Lempster since 1997, and previously lived in Unity for 20 years, and Montgomery, Vt. for 30 years. She worked at Hampshire Mfg. Co. in the Packing Department for two years. She enjoyed flowers, cooking, the birds, and animals.
The surviving family includes her husband, George W. Simonds of Lempster, whom she married on Oct. 30, 1990; eight daughters, Laura Britton of Keene, twins, Ila Wilson of Ontario, Canada, and Lila Elkins of Montgomery, Vt., Donna Armstrong of Champlain, N.Y., Pauline Domina of Richford, Vt., Betty Kidder of Thornton, Colo., Ann Roy of Springfield, Vt., and Brenda Seymour of Unity, N.H; five sons, Walter Garrow of Windsor, Vt., Ralph Garrow of Richford, Vt., Dale Garrow and Scott Garrow, both of Claremont, NH, and Steve Simonds of Lempster, NH; 27 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; two sisters, Ila Bowdish of Middlebury, Vt; and Velma St. Jock of Troy, N.Y; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one daughter, Katherine Garrow in 1953.
Friends were able to call at the Stringer Funeral Home in Lempster, N.H. on Sunday evening, Oct. 19, 2003, and this afternoon from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. The funeral services were held this afternoon (Monday) at 1 p.m. at the Funeral Home, with Pastor Pat Hoadley of the Assembly of God Church in East Berkshire, Vt. Interment followed in Lempster Cemetery.
