ObituaryAug 5, 2000  OBITUARY: RICHFORD – Christine E. Johnson, age 74, died Thursday afternoon, Aug. 3, 2000 at the Verdelle Village ECF in St. Albans.

She was born in Berkshire Aug. 2, 1926, the daughter of the late William & Emma (Beshaw) Steinhour.

She was a lifelong resident of Richford and was employed at the Northland Hockey Stick Factory, Vermont Handle and McAllisters Saw Mill. Following her retirement she cleaned houses and took care of the elderly. She enjoyed cooking and making quilts and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by four daughters, Ethel Bell and her husband Melvin, Brenda Johnson, Etta Bosley and her husband Larry, all of Richford, and Wanda Johnson and her friend Collin Smith of Lincoln, Maine; two brothers, Frank Steinhour of Glens Falls, N.Y. and Linwood Steinhour of Highgate; two sisters, Marion Cantell of Hancock and Bernice Clark of Rochester; seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; her dear friend Harold Johnson of Richford.

She was predeceased by her husband Carl Johnson; five brothers, George, Wallace, Arthur, Malcolm and Gardner Steinhour; one sister, Stella Norton.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home on 140 Main St. in Richford with Pastor Pat Hoadley officiating. Interment will follow in the Richford Center Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 12 p.m. until the hour of the funeral at the Spears Funeral Home in Richford.
