ObituarySep 14, 2021  OBITUARY: Robert James Hurd, beloved husband, father, grandfather, opa, and friend passed away on September 13, 2021 at New London Hospital in New London, NH. He was born in Newport, NH on April 27, 1936 to the late Frank and Gertrude (Allen) Hurd.

Robert was born and raised in Newport and has lived in the area his entire life except when he was stationed in Germany. He was raised on a farm where he learned the value of hard work and was instilled with a love of nature and the outdoors. Robert served his country in the United States Army and then the Air National Guard. Robert met his wife, Moni, in Berlin Germany in 1959. They returned to Newport in 1961. He had a great sense of humor. Robert loved his family and will be dearly missed.

Robert was predeceased by his parents, siblings, Hazel, Harold, and Ward Hurd, and sister in law, Hannelore Breng.

Surviving family members include his loving wife of 61 years, Moni (Riemann) Hurd of Newport, daughter, Sabine Coupal of Sunapee and her partner, Robert Guillow, grandchildren, Joshua and Krystal Wood, great grandchildren, Tiloh, Keryonna, Kendra, Clarissa, Joselyn, Zaylia, Zoei, and Adaleigha, sister in law, Gisela Wolf, brother in law, Rolf Breng, nieces and nephews, Caroline Moore, Elaine Lamothe, Rodney Hurd, Michael Breng, Peter Wolf, Tilo Breng, Axel Breng, Andrea Muth, and Anja Werner, and longtime adopted son, Michael Henault.

Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
