ObituaryApr 1, 2012  OBITUARY: LOOMIS, Patricia L. Age: 79 years. Patricia Lyndon Garrow Loomis passed away in Napa on March 26, 2012. Loving wife of the late John "Jack" L. Loomis. Cherished mother of Jane Machado and her husband John of Folsom, CA and Peter J. Loomis and his wife Carolyn of Napa, CA. Dear grandmother of Kelly Patricia and Jennifer Maria Machado of Folsom and Jack and Sam Loomis of Napa and sister of Cynthia (Dick) Brubaker of Dayton, OH and Bill (Anne) Garrow of Cape Coral, FL and Somers Point, NJ. Survived by several nieces and nephews in Oregon and the East Coast.

Mrs. Loomis was born in Malden, Massachusetts, on December 7th, 1932, to Alan Eli and Emelie Knight Hoar Garrow, but she grew up with her brother and sister in Pottstown, Pennsylvania in the home of her mother's brother and his wife, William and Marie Hoar. She was graduated from Ursinus College, Collegeville, PA in 1954 with a BA in English, and worked in a Philadelphia advertising agency before moving in 1959 to Honolulu, HI, where she was advertising manager of GEM department store and Spencecliff Restaurants before she sold newspaper advertising for the Honolulu Advertiser. In 1960 she met her husband, John L. "Jack" Loomis when he arrived from Roseburg, OR, to work for the Honolulu Star-Bulletin. They were married August 10, 1961. Mr. Loomis died in 2002. Returning to the mainland, the Loomis's lived in Oregon and Utah before moving to Petaluma. Mrs. Loomis was instrumental in introducing year round schools to Petaluma and in founding Discovery Days, a summer program for elementary children under the auspices of the American Association of University Women, which she served as president from 1973 to 1975. Mrs. Loomis became a real estate agent in 1984 and worked at Golden Land Realty for 23 years until she retired in 2007. She was a member of AAUW for 38 years and was also a member of the Petaluma Golf and Country Club. As per her request there will not be a service. Private Inurnment for Jack and Patricia will be at Reed-Hill Pioneer Cemetery in Wilbur, OR. Family assisted by PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY AND CREMATORY, 763-4131.
