| Obituary | Jan 22, 1997 | OBITUARY: Evelyn P. Rountree, 72, died Jan. 21, 1997, in Norfolk. Rountree retired from Sears and worked at Calvary Baptist Day Care. She was a native of Gatesville, N.C., and was a beloved Christian member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a member of the AARP Virginia Beach chapter. Survivors include two daughters, Alma R. Toxey and her husband, Artie, of Virginia Beach, Elaine R. Benjamin, and her husband, Dennis, of Virginia Beach; son, Alvin T. Rountree, and his wife, Paula, of Winchester; sister, Hazel Jones, and her husband, O.B., of Dobson, N.C; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two nieces. A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Rosewood Memorial Park by Pastor Ernest G. Roebuck. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
