ObituaryJan 8, 1959  OBITUARY: Funeral services were held from the Congregational Church on Tuesday, January 6, for Mrs. Nathan P. McKown (Beatrice Hurd McKown), who died at the Mary Hitchcock hospital in Hanover on Sunday morning after a long illness. Rev. Ashley Doane officiated and the organist was Mary Clough. Burial was in Grove Hill Cemetery. Bearers were George Goudie, George McGregor, Victor Snell, Percy Sweet, Charles Bishop and Waldo Dexter.

Mrs. McKown was born in Cornish on May 6, 1894, the daughter of Fred Hurd and Mary (Kenyon) Hurd. She attended schools in Cornish and Claremont High School. On June 6, 1914 she was married to Nathan P. McKown, who died last December. She had been a resident of Lisbon for 45 years.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth H. McKown and Douglas P. McKown of Lisbon; two daughters, Mrs. Jocelyn Jamieson of Bethel, VT and Mrs. Nathalie F. Murray of Thompsonville, CT; and 11 grandchildren. A third son, Sgt. Malcolm K McKown, was killed in action in World War II.

Mrs. McKown was a member of the Lisbon Congregational Church, Lafayette Chapter O.E.S, Past Matrons, Gold Star Mothers and the American Legion Auxiliary.

On Monday evening at the Pillsbury Funeral Home a service was conducted by the Gold Star Mothers and the O.E.S. Chapter service was held at 8 p.m. at The Legion auxiliary attended in a body.
